yJHEN Richard Aytoun (1963) Ltd., of Dalkeith, were called to a Section 178 inquiry at Edinburgh on Tuesday to show cause why the firm's licences should not be revoked, suspended or curtailed, the Scottish Licensing Authority, Mr. A. B. Birnie, after hearing the evidence, said he would take no action on maintenance and would grant a replacement of a small vehicle.
It was stated that Aytoun had been convicted twice under C. and U. Regulations and had received a number of GV9s. Difficulties with the fleet in the early part of the year were admitted, but the convictions were mainly of a minor nature.
All vehicles had been put off the road immediately on receipt of a GV9. • Nine of 10 vehicles had been renewed and only one remained of the original fleet; the current fleet was quite different and was of a high standard.
In August a mechanic-fitter had been employed to inspect one vehicle each night and this was supplemented by two vehicles being inspected each week by a trade garage. This system would continue.
