King leads National departures

FIVE of National Holidays' senior staff, including general manager John King, are leaving to join rival coach holiday operator Wallace Arnold.
The other four involved in the move are divisional manager-marketing, Chris Champion; divisional manager-UK, Stephen Barber; divisional manager-overseas development, Paul McTiernan; and divisional managerhotel contracts, Bill Maxwell.
Commenting on the departures, Derek Fytche, chairman of National Products, the National Bus Company's leisure and coaching division, was anxious to play down their significance. "It will be business as usual at National. We are the market leaders in UK coach holidays and we have built up an impressive and successful programme against the trend of decline in this market over the past few years,he said.
John Fisher, the former controller of National Holidays and currently regional enterprises director with NBC's Wales and The North Region, is handling the dayto-day running of the business while new manageninn appointments are made.
