A notable expert on engine design, and on all forms of mechanical propulsion, Mr. Dawson is director of engineering, F. Perkins Ltd. He joined the Perkins group in 1955, at the age of 39, as general manager of the engineering division. His board appointment was announced four years later. Before joining Perkins he was with Shell, as chief engineer of the company's Thornton Research Centre. During the war he was aeroengine development test engineer, Rolls-Royce, joining Shell in 1946.
