FEDERAL EXPRESS, an American express carrier, has suggested that British Airways should use one of its seven Concordes to carry freight. A true-blue British Atlas Group company, Atlasair, has already taken advantage of supersonic flight for an urgent delivery to the USA. Cow and Gate Baby Foods, of Trowbridge, Wilts, received an emergency call from a hospital in Virginia for special milk to feed a baby who was inconveniently allergic to all milk produced in the USA.
The company immediately telephoned Atlasair, which within eight hours collected the milk and delivered aboard Concorde at Heathrow. It arrived in Virginia in time to save the baby.
