CURTHER evidence of the determina1.' tion of the railways, foreshadowed by The Commercial Motor, to recover traffic in troops travelling on short leave, was provided, last week. before the East Midland Licensing Authority, at Oxford. Frostways, Ltd., Hull, who have three +Coaches in the Oxford area, applied for a licence for an express service each week-end from Kidlington R.A.F. station to London. It was stated that the coaches would cover the journey in 2i hours, and passengers would be set down about half a mile from Victoria Coach Station. The vehicles would return the R.A.F. personnel to Kidlington Camp on Monday at about 2.30 a.m.
The application was refused after a railway witness had said that the 12.05 a.m. train from Paddington would be arranged to travel through to Kidlington, arriving at 2.11 a.m. on Monday, and that the return fare would be amended to 9s. 11d.
