ASYSTEM of handling bulk cement by using portable silos and a mechanical "cement man," will ha demonstrated by F. Shepherd and Son, Ltd., Blue Bridge Lane, York, on July 15. The cement tanker concerned, which weighs under three tons unladen, was produced by the London Aluminium Co., Ltd., in conjunction with the Northern Aluminium Co., Ltd.
Other equipment to be shown will include a number of portable silos of 10-ton capacity and the Pullwey mechanical cement man.
The silos are self-contained and are light enough to be manhandled without discomfort. No power is needed for the mechanical cement man, which automatically weighs and discharges the cement.
This equipment, it is claimed, reduces the cost of cement by up to 15s. per ton, according to circumstances.
