Great publicity has recently been given to the amount of false permits used by British operators abroad and the action being taken to stop this.
Are you aware that the amount of traffic going abroad on false permits may exceed 50 per cent ?
There are by no means enough permits to fulfil the needs of our operators who are moving British exports. Those operators who have large allocations do not always use their allocations. There are cases of operators sending up to 20 permits out at once to get them stamped abroad so as not to lower next year's allocations.
Government officials would be better spending their time trying to get a very much larger permit allocation or completely do away with that system than just crushing our operators by legislation.
