TO HELP protect vehicles against rust, the Peabody Oil division of Sale Tilney Technology has introduced a chemical rust solvent and converter, Chemprime.
Applied by brush or spray, Chemprime is suitable for touching up rusted areas or for initial preparation of metalwork. Chemprime's chemicals react with the iron oxide to form an inert ironzinc-strontium film which becomes part of the metal surface. The corrosion resistant film also improves paint adhesion.
On freshly sand-blasted metal surfaces, which are particularly prone to corrosion, Chemprime provides a resistant film until paint is applied.
A non-flammable liquid, Chemprime will cover up to 93 sq metre (1000 sq ft) per 4.5 litres (1 gall) and severe corrosion deposits can be removed from surfaces by immersion in Chemprime. Heating the liquid during this process will shorten the immersion period).
Diluted with water, Chemprime may be used as a surface conditioner for galvanised and aluminium products allowing them to be painted more easily.
