• The SMMT has granted £75,000 over five years to the Cranfield Institute of Technology to enable the Institute to establish a new Chair of Automobile Production in the former Advanced School of Automobile Engineering, which has now beenre-named the School of Automotive Studies in recognition of its broadened scope of activities.
• Chrysler (UK) Ltd has approved the Bostrom Viking 400 suspension seat as a special equipment optional extra item for fitting onto all models within the Dodge 500 series except the KL 600.
British Leyland has fully tested and approved the Viking 400 seat as regular production optional equipment for inclusion in its Leyland Redline range of commercial vehicles.
