The Saucer Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd., produce a long-wheelbase chassis which has been particularly designed to enable a long body giving a large cubic
capacity to be carried, so that the vehicle can meet the requirements of the average removal contractor. Moreover, the chassis is specially built for working in conjunction with a trailer, so that the total load which can be transported is one of very considerable proportions.
One of the pictures on this page is of a Saucer vehicle which has been delivered to a Chelmsford company of furnishers and removers. The chassis is of the company's 5A.D. type, having a carrying capacity of 5-6 tons; the wheel'base is approximately 16 ft. 4 ins, The body, which was built by Messrs. Parkyn and Sans, provides a loading space a over 800 cubic ft., its dimensions being 16 ft. long, 6 ft. 6 ins, wide and 8 ft. high. The vehicle is fitted with the Saurer trailer hook and a strengthened cross-member for trailer haulage, whilst the company's patent trailer brake oontrial gear is also incorporated •in its design.
