Cambridgeshire police say they have been hearing of diesel thefts "nearly every day" in the region since the beginning of summer.
Incidents in the Peterborough area have centred on "travellers" in vans stealing diesel and selling it for El a gallon.
Last week West Yorkshire polite confirmed they had arrested a number of people suspected of thefts from diesel bunkers in the Leeds area (CM 28 Oct-3 Nov). Up to 30 depots may have been hit.
