MEWCASTLE UPON TYNE'S traffic problems will be discussed by a special committee formed of corporation representatives and local business, motoring and transport organizations, if a recommendation of air. A. Grey is accepted by the city council.
Cllr. Grey contends that the city's transport difficulties are not a matter for the corporation only, and that by co-operating with other interests it will be possible to get the best possible advice.
The transport committee have decided to take steps to prohibit other vehicles from stopping at recognized bus stops. Members of Newcastle and District Chamber of Trade alleged recently that 60 per cent. of the traffic congestion in Newcastle was caused by corporation bus drivers, who were accused of stopping in the middle of the road when another vehicle was parked at the bus stop.
