THE rapid increase of membership of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers amply demonstrated the need for the organization, said Mr. J. K. Bennett, general secretary, at the annual dinner of the North Western centre in Manchester last Saturday.
In introducing the new secretary, Mr. L. H. Lee recalled the foundation of the I.R.T.E. in 1945 when about 100 enthusiastic workers handed together. Membership had now risen to over 1,800.
