AT an inquest in York last week a rider urging that new regulations should be introduced to cover the transport of dangerous loads by road was passed by the jury. They returned a verdict of "death bymisadventure" on Ronald Turner, who died in hospital after an accident in which his vehicle hit a tree.
As a result of the accident concentrated sulphuric acid from 12 carboys in the load poured over him and he died four days afterwards. Evidence was given that only a light bulkhead separated the driver from the load. The carboys were stated
to have been secured by a wire.
