A paint repair system known as Glassolac has been announced by General and Industrial Paints Ltd, that caters for the spot repair and respraying of metallic enamels. The application of Glassolac paint involves the use of a base metallic enamel and a special lacquer. Claimed advantages of the new system include ease of colour matching, good obliteration and high gloss, which reduce the time that is required for final polishing. Known as Quick-start, an aerosol applied starting fluid has been developed by the Granville Chemical Co Ltd for petrol, diesel and paraffin engines. Containing high flash-point refined petroleum spirits and an upper cylinder lubricant it is squirted into the air filter or air intake. Application for 2sec is said to provide instant starting.
