• Scammell Lorries Ltd of Watford Herts, has announced the introduction of ; completely new pressed-steel fifth-whee coupling.
An exclusive feature of the equipment says Scammell, is the inclusion of ; foolproof safety catch which must be use before the coupling can be released. Th fifth-wheel, which weighs 255Ib complete and has a list price of £65 includin mounting trunnions, is designed to fit an make of tractive unit chassis. The mouni ing feet can pick up different frame width with outer centres of either 30in. or 32÷it provided for the fin, diameter mountin holes.
From now on the new fifth-wheel i standard equipment on all Scamme two-axle Handyman, three-axle double-driN Crusader and three-axle tandem-stet Trunker tractive units.
