• Drivers on cross-Channel work look set to benefit from the latest price war between operators—over duty free soles Eurotunnel is once again making the running: this time the company has cut the price of all drinks and cigarettes by a third in a bid to attract more passengers.
Savings include cutting the price of a litre of Bells scotch whisky from £10.95 to just 26.65, and a 23 saving on 200 Marlboro cigarettes.
Ferry companies have traditionally taken a quarter of all revenue from selling duty free products. Analysts predict that if P8i0 and Steno were forced to follow Eurotunnel's lead, their profits could fall by as much as £30m and 225m a year respectively
