LAST Monday, a Commer 7-tanner drawing a Hands BST: 3-ton trailer began a trunk service three times a week from London to Bolton. It will cover 1,200 miles a week, carrying Blue Ribbon furniture for Greaves and Thomas, Ltd., 103, Northwold Road, London, E.4.
Excluding the Luton front, which extends 4 ft. 6 ins, over the cab, there is little difference in the size of the two bodies, which are both 20 ft. long and 9 ft. high inside, with respective widths of 7 ft. and 6 ft. 10 ins.
Each has a 2-ft. 6-in, tailboard, above which are two doors that can be hinged back and secured to the body sides. There are no whcelboxes in either body. Cecil Saunders, Ltd., Letchworth, was responsible for the bodies, which have hardwood frames and Plymax panels. The complete outfit was supplied by .Ray Powell, Ltd., 113, Fairlop Road, London, E.11.
