• No action is to be taken against JG Osborne by the North East Traffic Area following the Rotherham haulier's collapse last month.
The Deputy Traffic Commissioner John Hampton has decided merely to warn the company to tighten up its control of drivers. But between the last public inquiry and the announcement of the DTC's decision, Osborne went into voluntary liquidation owing creditors .C1.5 million (CM 23 Dec-5 Jan).
In October Hampton deferred a decision after South Yorkshire Police investigated alleged dri
vers' hours offences while abroad. He took no action against the LGV driving licences of the drivers involved after their explanations (GM 28 Oct-3 Nov).
Director Ron Osborne has since blamed the publicity surrounding the investigation and the Traffic Area's delay in announcing a decision against the company as reasons for the company's collapse.
Following death threats from a murderer convicted of killing Osborne's night watchman, Osborne and his wife are planning to move from the Rotherham area.
