"TWO large-capacity vans with body' work constructed from resin-bonded glass fibre are new additions to the fleet of Sketchley, Ltd., Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Light loads of garments. for delivery to branch shops, are catered for by a B.M.C. 3-ton forward-control chassis, fitted with a Baico 54-in. extension. The cab, mudguards and all panelwork are of colour-impregnated glass fibre with a translucent plastics roof.
The interior is panelled and the floor covered with linoleum. Garments hang from four light-alloy rails fitted longitudinally. Built-in steps at the side doors and a walk-in tailboard are provided to aid loading and unloading.
The complete vehicle is 27 ft, 6 in. long overall and illuminated name plates are fitted at the front and rear.
Industrial replacement overalls in bales call for a vehicle with a higher payload capacity and for this work Sketchley use a B.M.C. 4-ton forward control oil engined chassis of standard wheelbase with a similar body to that of the. 3-tonner, although not giving such high capacity.
Attractive integral drivers' cabs on both models feature curved front quarter lights and circular radiator grilles decorated with " S " emblems.
The chassis were supplied by Locomotors, Ltd., Andover, who built the bodies. So successful have these vehicles proved that a further seven arc on order.
