rOMPRESSIvIORE %-• refuse collection bodies, based on Thames Trader 55 chassis, are being supplied to the Department of Public Services, City of Manila, Philippine Islands, by the makers of the equipment, the Eagle Engineering Co., Ltd., Warwick, to replace the Department's existing fleet of vehicles. Of the latest type with CorTen steel floors, 20 Compressmore 12-20-cu.-yd. vehicles will be used for the collection of refuse throughout the
city. The contract for the supply of the vehicles was obtained in face of keen competition from companies in this country and America.
Mounted on Leyland Super Comet chassis, 40 Compressmore 18-26-cu.yd. bodies are being exported to Teheran, in Iran, and in this case also the vehicles will eventually cater for all the refuse-collection requirements in the area. The order covers the supply of five street-washing tankers of 1,500-gal. capacity, 2,000 handcarts and 4,000 dustbins. Total value of the contract is £400,000.
