" WE do not admit that if drivers occasionally exceed the speed limit it necessarily means that they are driving carelessly." Mr. Arthur Bolton, chairman of the national council, Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association, said this at Turnberry last week at the Scottish Area P.V.O.A. week-end " party."
Mr. Bolton was attacking the provisions of the new Road Traffic Bill. He added: "We contend the p.s.v. driver has a very good accident record, is an experienced user of the road, and should certainly be taken out of Group 2 which primarily covers careless driving."
Over 260 people attended the annual dinner-dance which preceded the weekend, and some 200 stayed throughout.
