ANOTHER plea for urban motorways and improved trunk roads to serve Greater London was made by Mr. H. S. Andrews, county engineer and surveyor of Middlesex, when he addressed the AllParty Roads Study Group in the House of Commons.
He also advocated a new road-traffic committee for Greater London established on the lines of the Nugent Committee whose recommendations for a £200-million, 20-year road development programme for the L.C.C. area have recently been accepted. Mr. Andrews' suggested committee would comprise representatives of all Greater London's local authorities.
" I have no doubt that the public will welcome far more advanced proposals and there is a real need for a comprehensive, up-to-date plan and detailed programme for perhaps a 10-year period," he added.
