be in required to submit details of their businesses under the National Census of Distribution and Other Services. which is to take place in 1950 in respect of this year. Forms for the census arc at present being printed, and specimens will be available shortly.
Certain information will be required for the calendar year 1949. but where a trader's business year does not coincide with the calendar year, a return may be made for the financial year ending between April 5, 1949, and April 6. 1950. Forms will normally have to be returned by March. 1950, but undertakings, the financial year of which ends between December 31, 1949, and April 6, 1950, will be allowed three months' grace from the end of the financial year.
The value of stocks at the beginning and end of the year will have to be recorded. Traders will be asked to state the number of persons working in their businesses in the week ending June 25. 1949, and the total wage and salary bill for that week, as well as the total cost of salaries and wages for the year covered by the return.
