Omnibus Co. Ltd. and its associate companies. Notts and Derby Traction Co. Ltd. and Mansfield and District Traction Co. Ltd.. has retired at the age of 65. Mr. Williamson became chief engineer of Midland General and Notts and Derby in 1930 after being associated with his fa m il.y's own passenger transport business, and was appointed to hisfinal position in 1948. He has been succeeded by Mr. J. Niblock, traffic manager of Crosville Motor Services Ltd. Mr. Niblock v‘as Nxith Crosville from 1932-46 and after serving elsewhere returned to the company in 1958.
Mr. P. A. Thompsna has been appointed transport controller of The Rank Organisation. Mr. Thompson is a transport and shipping specialist, and has had a wide experience in this field. firstly with Unilever Ltd. and latterly with Guest. Keen and Nettlefold Ltd.
Mr. Eric Landragin, secretary of Birch Bro. Ltd. for 35 years, retired from that position on April 30. He will, however, Continue as a director. His successor as seL-Tetary is Mr. Laurence Ford, who for the past year has been assistant secretary.
Mr. George R. McLeod has been appointed transport manager of Saddler and Co., Middlesbrough, as from July I.
Mr. Robert Carlisle, executive member (traffic) of the Ulster Transport Authority. retired last week. He started his association with public transport in Northern Ireland in 1927. joining the Old Belfast Omnibus Co. Ltd., and in 1935 transferred to the Northern Ireland Road Transport Board.
Mr. 1). A. Cibling has been appointed assistant sales manager (exports) and Mr. A. W. Barrett assistant sales manager (technical) of Crane Fruehauf Trailers.
At the 16th a.g.m. of the Institution of Body Engineers. Mr. A. Cox (Ford Motor Co. lid.) was re-elected president for a second terns. Mr. K. A. Osborne (Pressed Steel Co. Ltd.) and Mr. 1 Harrison t A. W. Chapman Ltd.) were re-elected vice-presidents.
Mr. John T. Pierce, assistant general sales :mrmger of the Rubery Owen Motor Division. Darlastort, South Staffs, left on Monday for a five-week tour which will take him to India, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. H. Norman G. Allen has been elected thn. 801h president of The institution of Mechanical Engineers in succession to Vice-Admiral Sir Frank Mason. Mr. Allen is deputy chairman and toint managing director of W. H. Allen Sons arid Co. Ltd.
Mr. Philip Absalom has been appointed publicity, manager for Matbro Ltd.

Wales and Monmouthshire section of the Institute of Transport were Mr. A. J. Harby (The Steel Company of Wales Ltd.). chairman; Mr. R. T. Wynn {Robert Wynn and Sons Ltd.), Mr. R. R. Jackson (South Wales Licensing Authority) and Mr. F. A. Mason (The Rhondda Transport Co. Ltd.) vice-chairmen.
Mr. E. B. Wilson, chairman of ENV Engineering Co. Ltd. and of Eaton Axles Ltd., has been appointed by Eaton Yale and Towne International to the position of European regional director for Eaton products. Mr. Wilson retains his chairmanships, and will assist in co-ordinating the company's activities with those of subsidiaries and associates in this country and on the Continent.
Mr. Fred Sanderson, sales progress manager of W. P. Butterfield (Engineers) Ltd., retired last week after 384 years with the firm.
Obituary WE regret to record the deaths of Mr. T. M. Anderson and Mr. C. H. Mason.
Mr. Anderson was a haulier and bus operator. of Hawick, Roxburghshire.
Mr. Mason was director of special contracts. Avon Rubber Co. ltd. He had been with Avon since 1946 when he came to the comnany from the Min'stry of Supply as assistant tyre sales manager.
