LAUNCHED this week by Deansgate is the first psv conversion of the Leyland Sherpa Van. This is a 12-seater based on the Sherpa crew-bus produced by Leyland and carries the full warranty and approval of the manufacturers.
Deansgate has the sole rights to manufacture psv Sherpas and have a stock available for purchase. The diesel-engined version is listed at £3,238 and the petrol model at £2,935.
The managing director, Mr Jack Williams, told CM that he was confident of large sales in the psv market, especially as the Sherpa was £1,000 cheaper than comparable Ford minibuses.
The seats are arranged so that the passengers are angled slightly towards the centre gangway instead of pointing straight ahead. This gives much more leg room and conforms to the regulations for seat spacing. Eleven passenger seats have access through the rear door of the bus.
