• West Midland Licensing Authority John Mervyn Pugh has said that when the licence of Hereford-based Ball of Madley falls due for renewal in January it will have to be fully considered at a further public inquiry.
In January, the late Ronald Jackson, then Deputy Licensing Authority, had renewed the licence for 12 months after describing the company's mainte nance records as an "absolute disgrace" (CM 21-27 January).
For the company, Michael Carless said that the assurances given in January had largely been kept. The prohibition notice imposed on a vehicle had been somewhat of a technicality. The reason the vehicle examiner had reported that one vehicle had not been regularly inspected had been a misunderstanding.
