Southdown had operated extended tours for years, whereas Frames, who were mainly booking agents, would be new operators in this field. As such they had to prove that the existing operators were not capable of coping with the traffic, but they had not even tried to show that.
There was no question of Frames being " tied " to Southdown. Each year since 1949 they could have gone to another coach operator.
Other objectors were Ribble Motor Services, Ltd.; Scout Motor Services, Ltd.; W. C. Standerwick, Ltd.; Wallace Arnold Tours, Ltd.; and Westcliff-onSea Motor Services, Ltd.
