The 34th Annual Couferenm of the Institute of Public Cleansing, Sefton Street, Blackpool, will take place at Manchester between June 6th and 10th. The fee for each delegate attending the conference is 25s., which includes the Privileges of the conference and copies of the journal of the Institute of Public Cleansing for the 12 months following the meeting.
The following are the chief items in the preliminary programme :—„Tune 6th, 7,30 p.m., civic reception by the Lord Mayor in the Town Hall; June 7th, 10 a.m., official welcome and papef by Councillor Hewitt, of Hull, on "The Case for a Separate Cleansing Departmeat"; 2 p.m., visit to the works of the D.P. Battery Co., Ltd., Bakewell, Derbyshire; evening visit to a Broadcasting Station or the Allied Press.
'June 8th, 10 a.m., papers by Mr. B. B. Jones, Manchester, on " Publicity as an Aid to Public Cleansing," and "A Review of Modern Methods of Street cleansing" by Mr. Colin H. Macfarlane, Glasgow; 2.20 p.m., visit to Manchester Corporation cleansing department depots or to Metropolitan Vickers, Ltd., Trafford Park, Manchester ; 7 p.m., annual dinner, Grand Hotel.
June 9th, 11 a.m., exhibition of cleansing vehicles and applianbes, Belle Vue Gardens, Manchester ; 2.30 p.m., demonatration of vehicles.
June 10th, 10 a.m., papers, "The Advantages of Combining Transport with Cleansing," and "Refuse Collection and Disposal in Switzerland," by Mr. H. Furrer, City of Zurich ; 2 p.m, visit to the Chloride Electrical Storage Co., Ltd., Clifton Junction.
