ANYONE who has tyres which he does not require for immediate use, and which are fit for substantial further mileage without being retreaded, is asked by the Ministry of Supply to offer them for sale to an authorized tyre depot or licensed retreader—to the latter only when in condition for retreading. Authority for these concerns to acquire used tyres and to other persons to dispose of them is given by a Direction (Na, 2) made under the Control of Rubber Tyres (No. 4) Order, 1942, which came into force on May 2.
If any difficulty be found in disposing of tyres, the owner is asked to. write to the Tyre Control, Empire House, 8t. Martin's-le-Grand, London, E.C.1, giving full details of the quantity, size and make.
These observations do not apply to worn-out or scrap tyres, which should be disposed of to dealers or certified waste-rubber merchants, or any local autharity or garage for salvage.
