During the committee stage in the House of Lords, 133 amendments were put down and 48 accepted. On the report stage. 71 amendments were tabled and 43 were passed. Six further amendments were made during the third reading.
The proceedings in the House of Commons were concluded by a long debate on March 31, reported in last week's issue.
After a heated debate in the Commons on March 31 the Bill was delayed until after Easter, when a further four days were devoted to discussion of the Lords' amendments. The Bill was passed by 304 votes to 276,
