ORDERS for over 150 chassis equipped with Cummins engines were taken during the NEC Motor Show, the company said this week.
Worth a total of Elm to Cummins (UK), the units are built at ShottE and Darlington engine plants. Of the total, 55 were specified witlNTE 290 power while 52 are to have the NT240. The rest will be the Darlington-built Vee engines.
According to Cummins, own-account operators made up twothirds of the order and the chassis in which the engines are to be fitted are Bedford, ERF, Foden, Ford, Leyland and Seddon Atkinson.
Cummins say that their share of engines in the over 28-ton tractive unit market in the UK has increased from 17.7 per cent in 1978 tc 20.2 per cent for the same period in 1980.
