A RANGE of 11 maintenance-free 12v batteries for light vans and cars hat been introduced by Fulmen (UK) Ltd of Aldershot.
Called Fulself, the batteries are sealed for life with no filler caps. They also have, says Fulmen, an improved plate design, and longer shelf life.
Because the self-discharge rate is reduced, the makers claim that the Fulself battery has a high proportion of its full capacity available even after several months of inactivity — particularly useful for those applications where periods of laying up are common.
As well as introducing the maintenance-free battery, Fulmen also has a low maintenance range of 60 batteries. They have polypropylene cases and need no topping up for a year or 15,000 miles. Additionally, they have a storage life in charge condition of more than six months, as redesigned plates with a lower antimony content are used.
