• One of the few remaining chemical companies still running its own transport, Carless Solvents is investing over £200,000 in converting its 37strong tanker and flat semitrailer fleet from steel to air suspension and has standardised on Rubery OwnerRockwell's lndair system.
Carless believes this will minimise the amount of vibration damage from running empty on return journeys and extended the life of its 10-yearold tanker fleet by a further seven years.
Lodge Trailers of Liverpool is carrying out the conversion work and has also built two new drop-sided flat semitrailers for Carless, each capable of earring 80 drums. Indair is also specified along with a King Multilift tail-lift.
To complement its conventional fleet, Carless has recently purchased two 30,000 litre stainless-steel tankers from Hobur of Holland with triaxle Indair suspension.
In combination with Cummins L10-290 powered Fallen S104 sleeper-cab tractive units Carless say they are achieving payloads of 24,750kg at 38 tonnes GCW.
