AN assurance. that small units will continue to be offered was given to a delegation from the National Conference of Road Transport Clearing Houses which visited Sir Malcolm Trustram Eve, chairman of the Road Haulage Disposal Board, last week.
The delegation, which was led by the vice-chairman, Mr. Harold Firth, had asked to see Sir Malcolm because they were disturbed by the statement of the previous Minister of Transport in July that by the autumn the demands of the smaller hauliers would be completely met.
The Conference had evidence that a large demand by the smaller men still existed, and this was advanced. The delegation hoped that the Board would break down into much smaller units some of the larger ones which remained unsold.
