RP-TO-DATE licensing figures issued ‘,..1 last week by the Minister of Transport showed that on June 30 this year there were 1,232,016 current carriers' licences. Of these, 1,198,809 were held by private• concerns and 33,207 by the British Transport Commission. The grand total is broken down as follows: A licences, 66,826; special A, 24,847: contract A, 23,334; B, 69,871; and C, 1,047,138. The B.T.C. hold the following licences: A, 22,213; special A, 7,765; contract A, 1,157; and C, 2,072. British Road Services' have 6,305 A licences, 7,765 special A, 1.157 contract A and 313 C licences. The rest are held by British Railways and other B.T.C. undertakings.
