MORE BUSES ORDERED • Within the next two months, seven more Leeds City Transport bus services will become completely one-man operated, when a batch of 40 single-deck buses is delivered. This move was agreed in principle at a recent meeting of the city's transport traffic sub-committee, and is subject to approval by the Traffic Commissioners. With the completion of this conversion, 10 per cent of Leeds routes will be served by o-m-o buses.
Consideration has now been given to the purchase of a further 80 single-deck and 80 double-deck buses, delivery of which would enable the department to increase one-man operation to 30 per cent of the fleet. The transport and trading committee has recommended the council to approve the following orders:— Chassis: 40 Leyland Atlantean doubledeck; 40 Daimler Fleetline double-deck; 50 AEC Swift single-deck; 15 Daimler Fleetline 36ft single-deck; 15 Leyland Atlantean 36ft single-deck; Bodies: 80 Chas. H. Roe double-deck; 25 Chas. H. Roe single-deck; 55 Park Royal single-deck.
