• Merseyside Police and the Department of Transport are planning a campaign against motor tax dodgers in the Merseyside region, starting on 15 July.
Hauliers face a maximum penalty of five times the annual rate of duty if they are caught failing to have and display a legal tax disc.
The Department of Transport estimates that the Loss of revenue from drivers failing to pay Vehicle Excise Duty amounts to 2100 million a year, or 4% of revenue.
