EEARS that all transport cafes would
1 be able to serve drinks if the Licensing .Bill in its present form became law were expressed by several M.P.s last week. The Government was taking a great and unjustified risk, warned Mr. R. J. Mellish (Labour, Bermondsey) when the Bill was being examined in Committee. "Do we want to see all the transport cafes on the Great North Road able to sell drinks ? " he asked.
He was not against any extension of licences as such, but he wanted to get the Government to say at what line it was Sir Jocelyn Simon, the SolicitorGeneral, disputed that every single cafe. and transport cafe would have a licence.
