THE CORPORATE sales operation formed recently by Britannia Movers International has appointed Ted Philp as its managing director.
Mr Philp joined the co-operative's Watford-based sales operation from AbeIs International, of which he was a direct o r. Before that he was international removals director with Pickfords Worldwide. He has been in the international moving business for more than 25 years and is a vice-president of the British Association of Removers. For several years he headed BAR's negotiations with shipping lines and HM Customs.
Initially, he will be reviewing the organisation of the sales operation. He will head efforts to expand membership, which currently stands at 17 removals firms. Longer term, his job will be to steer Britannia towards his declared goal of creating the country's first domestic van line.
