Retreads for Light Vans I ATEST addition to the Blue Peter range of retread tyre
patterns suitable for light vans is the Rear: read designed for use on winter road surfaces. Special features include the introduction of sipes coupled with relief shoulders rendering the pattern less bold and harsh—giving greater flexibility and roadholding qualities and smooth, silent running. Despite the name, Reartreads should be used as the front tyres for front-wheeldrive vehicles—they are designed for the drive wheels. The moulding of recesses into a tyre is claimed as a unique feature of the Reartread; this facilitates the use of studs if these are required. The studs consist of a tungsten carbide core encased in Derlin plastic_ The rate of wear of these studs coincides with the rate of wear of the tread rubber, so that extra road grip is available throughout the life of the tread. The moulding of recesses into the tread enables studding to be carried out at speed—the company claims that orders received at the factory by noon can be dispatched studded on the normal delivery day. Blue Peter Reartreads are available in the following sizes: 5.20-10, 5.20-13, 5.20-14, 5.60-13 and 6.40-15.
