HOLD-FAST FOR SHAKY JOINTS

• The Lockbolt Fastening system, available from Rubery Owen (Moxley), is designed for use where a high resistence to vibration is demanded.

Consisting of a lockholt and collar, it provides an accurate

permanent clamp load within the joint when assembled with its own lightweight installation equipment.

The system pulls the bolted joint together by tensioning the lockbolt and then locks the joint with a high uniform clamp load. The locking effect is achieved by swaging the collar into the locking grooves of the lockbolt during installation.

In truck manufacture, the lockbolt system can he used on chassis frame fixing instead of ordinary rivets. It is an effective means of fastening additional items to the chassis, such as brackets holding other equipment, and for securing the side panels of delivery goods vans to internal framing, and fixing bodies to flatbed trailers, says the company.

In bus manufacture the system can be used for fixing the shell of the vehicle to the chassis; for fastening body panels together with body frame; fastening seat frames to the floor, roof panel assemblies to roof bows and auxiliary equipment attachments to bus framing.

With trailers the system can be used for fastening containers on to chassis framing and for fastening chassis together instead of with ordinary rivets.
