AN outfit capable of carrying malt extract in bulk has been put into service by Edme, Ltd., Mistley, Essex, whose factory is stated to be the largest in the country solely devoted to the manufacture of malt products. The vehicle is an Albion Chieftain with an Arlington light-metal platform body specially designed to carry a tank.
This is a stainless steel cylinder made byDarharn Industries (London), Ltd., with two compartments. enabling different products to be transported at the same time. The aggregate bulk load is 5 tons.
Beer production in 1959 reached its highest level for 10 years, and encouraged a dumber Of brewers to store and handle malt syrup in bulk. The advantage of this method is also being exploited by bakers and confectioners, and the vehicle was purchased' by Edme so that the demands of such customers could be met.
The comfort of the driver has been studied. Cab equipment includes dual windscreen wipers, a heater and radio.
