SCOTTISH PARCELS has entere market with Priority, a service work in England and Wales.
Goods are trunked nightly from Scottish Parcels' hub centre at Edinburgh and from its Glasgow branch for distribution throughout the Roadline network. A reciprocal arrangement is worked for goods collected by Roadline for delivery in Scotland.
At present the service is confined to the British mainland, but Scottish Parcels marketing manager Bill Clark told CM he hopes to extend it to Northern Ireland, where fellow National Freight regional group company Northern Ireland Carriers has its own parcels service.
Priority is being advertised television and in newspapers Scotland, and Mr Clark sa "Priority has been designed combine quality with sensil pricing. We do not believe tha is necessary to charge the ea' for an overnight service and tl belief is reflected in our tariff."
Scottish Parcels now operat from six main branches whe all employees (members of t Transport and General WorkE Union and the National Union Railwaymen) work to the san terms and conditions.
