THE GREATER London Council and the Road Haulage Association are united in their quest for the abolition of tolls on the Dartford Tunnel, but their methods of approach differ.
Both organisations are pressing for the abolition of tolls, but the RHA has not gone as far as the GLC which wants the tunnel and its approaches to be designated as part of the M25 London orbital route.
Like the RHA, it wants the tunnel to become part of the road network, and says that continued application of tolls will lead to traffic avoiding the tunnel and running instead through London.
