MR. J. H. STIRK, chairman of the East Midland Traffic Commissioners, left England, on June 5, for a holiday in Egypt. There will be no traffic courts in the East Midland Area until his return in July.
Following the retirement of Sir Arthur Stanley, G.B.E., C.B., who, since 1912, has been chairman of the Royal Automobile Club, LT.-COL. J. SEALY CLARKE has been elected chairman for the ensuing year,
ENGR. REAR-ADMIRAL J. HOPE HARRISON, RN. (Retired),. has resigned his position as joint honorary secretary to the Diesel Engine Users Association, and the committee has appointed, as secretary, Mr. A. T. Hobbs,. IVI.Inst.C.E., who is also secretary of the Institution of Water Engineers and the Institution of Highway Engineers.
MR. R. JEFECOCK, whose portrait appears on this page, is the new local manager of Barimar, Ltd., at 31, The Close, Newcastle-on-Tyne. He has had sound engineering and commercial experience, having been associated with Messrs. Bell Brothers, of Middlesbrough, Northern Commercial Services, Ltd., of Newcastle, and Walter Dix and Co., of Newcastle.
Our congratulations to Mr. W. E. ROOTES, joint managing director of Rootes, Ltd., on escaping without serious injury from a road accident which occurred recently in Hollywood. The other parties concerned in the accident were Charlie Chaplin and his leading lady, Paulette Goddard, who were
