A PARTY of 13 Dutch trade officials is visiting Dundee this week to assess the potential of Dundee Ferries, Scotland's new ro-ro ferry service to the European mainland (CM, July 6).
They are especially interested in the line's potential for generating transhipment traffic at Rotterdam, including the haulage by Dutch operators of semi-trailers shipped unaccompanied from Dundee.
On the first round trip Dutch trailers outnumbered British by about five to one.
But Graham Stratton, Dundee Ferries' operating manager, described the first few voyages by the Angus as "sea trials" which had established that the ship had the necessary speed and power in reserve to keep to schedule in bad North Sea Weather.
