If IL LAST Commerical Motor Roadshow of 1985 saw a major discussion on the pending Greater London Council lorry ban.
The Roadshow, held in the auditorium of the new Scottish Exhibition Centre during the second week of the Glasgow motor show, heard Stuart Bagnall of the GU: explain the intricacies of the ban and its implementation.
The hauliers present obviously had many reservations about the system of applying for exemption permits and their use, but most went away happier that they would still be able to haul into cent rid London when required.
One person who went away happier than most was Brian Murray of B. H. Weston, Muirhead, near Glasgow: Brian was the lucky winner of the Roadshow prize draw, and took away a portable television set.
