L•VIDENCE put forward by E. A. Major and Sons (Transport), Ltd.. Highbridge, Somerset, when they objected to another haulier's application last September, was found to be incorrect, 'Mr. S. W. Nelson, Western Licensing Authority, heard on Tuesday. He was told that the company opposed an application by Mr. A. R. Duckett, West Huntspill, on the ground that they did not have enough traffic themselves. However, when a senior examiner went through their records he discovered that on some days when Major's claimed their vehicles were idle they had, in fact, been working. At Tuesday's hearing Mr. Major explained that the documents concerned had been prepared by a junior, and he had taken it for granted that they were correct. He had no intention of misleading Mr. Nelson. Accepting this statement, Mr. Nelson warned the company that proceedings could have been taken. However, the incident would not be held against them.
