ELECTELECTRICAL apparatus for measuring brake-pedal pressures RICAL by J. Langharn Thompson, Ltd., Springland Laboratories, Bushey Heath, Herts. is self-contained and operates from a separate dry battery. It consists of a pad, which is bolted to the pedal, and a meter which is provided with suckers to attach it to any convenient surface, such as the vehicle windscreen.
The pad incorporates strain gauges which, in conjunction with a diaphragm, make a bridge to constitute the sensing mechanism. The signal created when the pad is compressed is recorded on the meter, which is a micro-ammeter with a dial calibrated in lb.
The present equipment gives readings from 0-200 lb., but it will be available for readings up to 1,000 lb.
